Cherry Blossoms

Maybe the fact that I only took three pictures at the cherry blossoms means that I am no longer "new" to the DC area. Or maybe it just means that my camera has not yet recovered from the sand in Cancun.

Either way, the blossoms were lovely and white and fluffy, and the air was just a little chilly, and it was a lovely Monday evening around the Tidal Basin.

The weekend

My weekend was pretty low key. It involved laying in bed for a few hours on Saturday waiting for the temperature to make it up to 40 before I ventured outside. Sometime around 10:30 I gave up at 37 degrees and got up anyway.

Then I set out on my mission for the day: to find a new bike. I'd been riding a friend's for the last year or so, and it just didn't fit me. So thanks to an upcoming birthday and awesome parents, this is my latest toy.
I sat in the doorway for a good 20 minutes or more practicing clipping in and out of the pedals. Then a few times around the block clipping in and out. I have not fallen yet, but it's only a matter of time; I just hope it happens without audience.

Creepy

I just got an email from an applicant asking to have something waived on his application. And then proceeded with "I need your help for the sake of the Mountains of Utah."

I don't like that he's stalking me to try and get what he wants. I realize that he didn't have to go very far to find the info- it's on the Mason website.

But I still don't like it.

...... and I didn't waive anything.

Coffee Table Project

This is what I originally went hunting for at the thrift store.

It cost me a whopping $4.99
And now it looks like this :)

A Before

I finally remembered to take a before picture!

I got this chair at the wonderfully exciting thrift store Unique. I was looking for a new coffee table, (that project's not quite finished yet) but I came across this fun little chair. My house already has an abundance of chairs, so I wasn't really sure if I should get it, but I just couldn't help myself.

But guess what! I have an office that could use a chair!

I tried sanding with my own little hands first, and quickly realized that was futile against the decades hardened varnish. Luckily Erin had already given up on another project and gone out to buy an electric sander, and she let me use it.

And this is the result.
I'm pretty happy with it.
