I'm a bad person

Last night I locked my roommate out of the house, very un-nice of me. We have a nice long driveway that could probably fit all 5 of our cars. This can be really helpful and convenient if there is a party or we just want to see what our cars look like in a row. It can also be difficult if the person at the front of the line wants to drive to Maryland to watch some Bollywood movies.

This might require me asking roommate A for her keys as she gets in the car with another friend to go out for the evening, and then promise that I wouldn't lock her out. This didn't seem like a hard promise to keep since I had no plans and no intention of making any plans since I had to be at work at 9am this morning.

The evening was looking pretty good for me to keep my promise, ended up watching some "What not to Wear" with roommates B (who didn't end up in MD for the evening) and C. -Must interject here that I think Clinton and I could totally be best friends-

We enjoyed some tater-tot casserole, this was my first experience with the dish and I was pleasantly surprised. Promise keeping took a turn for the worse, however, when we decided that it was such a lovely night that we should walk up the street and get some ice cream.

It was such a great idea that any thought of locked doors and roommates without keys were pushed right out of my head. Until roommate A called roommate C as I was listening to a message from A telling me that I was in trouble. I am a bad person.

p.s. I bought her some ice cream and I hope she's forgiven me.

Room with a view

So this is the view from my office. The weather was beautiful today and they turned on the fountains. I've been looking out this window for almost 100 days now and never even thought about the possibility of water coming out of the ground; it was a pleasant surprise.

I also saw a little boy and girl running through the water and it was pretty entertaining. Even better, I envision hours of entertainment throughout the spring and summer of looking out the window and seeing bigger boys and girls -given that I work on a college campus- running through the water. And if I'm really lucky, maybe I'll see someone that isn't paying attention walk absent-mindedly (if it was a professor it would be a huge bonus) into the water, and then be appropriately startled.

yet again

So, the big task for this week is moving.

"What?" you ask, "Didn't you just move?"

"Why yes, as a matter of fact, only three months ago"

"Wow, you really must like moving."

"No, I do not like moving. It's a big huge pain in the butt, and I never do a thorough enough job at it to not have at least one box that is filled with stuff that I should get rid of because I have no idea what to do with, but keep anyway. You might not guess that I don't really like moving because in the last ten years I've moved fifteen, (yes that's right, I counted it all up this morning) fifteen times.

But- despite the ugly brown and lighter brown linoleum in my very own bathroom, my room is huge, and my closet would be a decent sized bedroom in New York City. Also, I get to live with not one other cool girl, but four other cool girls. This may seem like a step back to some, but as I require entertainment much of the time, this is a very good arrangement for me. "

"That's great," you say in agreement and admiration, "and you don't even need a storage unit anymore"

"I know, very cool."

Circus

Yesterday at lunch we were discussing parking, and I said "Well I guess the circus is back in town" in a completely legitimate and non-metaphorical sentence. The circus really is in town, and half of our largest parking lot is taken up by the Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey tents and trailers.
Weird.

My List

I decided a little while ago to start compiling my list of 100 things to do before I die. This is actually a little harder to do than one might think. So far I've only gotten to about 75, and I've even thrown in a few things that I've already accomplished but I know were on my list even before it made it into spreadsheet form.

A few things that I've accomplished so far:
-bungee jump
-scuba dive (thanks mom!)
-live abroad
-save someone's life (thanks to sarah for pointing out that donating blood saves people's lives, even though it is much less dramatic and doesn't really make for a good story)
-learn to bake Judy's rolls

Anyway, this comes up because today I got myself a guitar, and learning to play the guitar happens to be on my list. I got it used from a guy named Steven on craigslist. He was very nice and even delivered it to me at work- and I did not feel the least bit silly carrying my new/used guitar into my office. He asked if I wanted to try it out to make sure I liked the sound, and this is where I send out a request for cute boys to offer to teach my how to play my new guitar.
