For me, Labor Day included a last minute jaunt to the outer banks of North Carolina. I decided to go on Friday, and on Saturday morning, I was on my way south. People were a little nervous about that pesky hurricane Earl, but I barely noticed him. Granted the black flags were up and the waves were ginormous when we got there on Saturday afternoon, but things died down and there was plenty of time to frolic in the ocean.
We stayed in this house http://www.carolinadesigns.com/vacation-rentals/wish-you-were-here.aspx, it wasn't too shabby. And I've continued my new tradition of only sleeping outside down there (it makes me think I'm on top of a houseboat at Lake Powell). It was so nice to actually see the Milky Way again.
There was also a little off road fun when we explored the 4x4 access only neighborhoods looking for the next vacation spot. Our driver tensed up a little when the hood of his jeep was submerged going through a "puddle" but all survived and it was not necessary to go swimming.
And once again, the beach drained me of my desire to take pictures. I am, however, excellent at posing for pictures at the beach so keep an eye out on fb, as I'm sure there's some tagging to be done soon.
